Every piece, and how it fits.

ScaleIL represents vendors whose technology carries real consequences — aircraft, vehicles, medical devices, national infrastructure. No single one of them builds a whole system. Each entry below explains what that piece actually does, and links straight to the vendor.

Operating systems, storage & edge

The foundation layer: what runs on the metal, how it boots, how it updates and how it keeps data intact.

RTOS · Linux · Virtualization · Edge cloud

Wind River

VxWorks is the RTOS behind Mars landers and commercial avionics: deterministic scheduling, ARINC 653 time and space partitioning, and DO-178C certification evidence up to DAL A. Wind River Linux is a Yocto Project–based distribution with CVE tracking and long-term maintenance. Helix Virtualization Platform adds a Type 1 hypervisor that runs unmodified guest operating systems side by side, so certified and non-certified workloads share one multi-core SoC instead of separate boxes.

Ubuntu · Kubernetes · OpenStack

Canonical / Ubuntu

Ubuntu Pro extends security maintenance to ten years across the main and universe archives, with FIPS 140 validated crypto modules, CIS and DISA-STIG hardening profiles and kernel livepatching that closes vulnerabilities without a reboot. For infrastructure, MicroK8s and Charmed Kubernetes cover edge clusters and Charmed OpenStack covers private cloud. Ubuntu Core delivers a transactional, fully containerised OS for devices, with secure boot and full-disk encryption.

RHEL · OpenShift · Ansible

Red Hat

Red Hat Enterprise Linux gives a ten-year lifecycle, a stable kernel ABI and FIPS mode for regulated deployments; RHEL for Edge adds image-based rpm-ostree updates with automatic rollback for sites nobody can visit. OpenShift runs Kubernetes with integrated CI/CD, service mesh, and single-node and three-node topologies for constrained locations. Ansible Automation Platform handles fleet configuration and compliance remediation at scale.

Hard real-time Linux · HIL simulation

Concurrent Real-Time

RedHawk Linux is a RHEL-compatible kernel tuned for guaranteed worst-case response rather than average throughput: shielded CPUs, deterministic interrupt handling, user-level pre-emption control and microsecond-scale jitter under full load. NightStar tools trace, debug and tune without perturbing the timing they measure. Paired with SIMulation Workbench, it drives hardware-in-the-loop rigs, radar processing and high-rate data acquisition.

File systems · Flash management

Tuxera

Embedded file systems decide whether a device recovers cleanly from a crash or corrupts silently. Tuxera's transactional file systems — NitroFS, Reliance Edge and EdgeFS — use copy-on-write and dynamic transaction points so data and metadata stay consistent through power loss on eMMC, UFS, SSD and SD. FlashFX Tera adds wear levelling, bad-block management and error correction over raw NAND, while licensed Microsoft exFAT, NTFS and FAT implementations keep removable media interoperable across Windows, Linux and VxWorks.

Security, cryptography & software supply chain

From TLS on a microcontroller to FIPS certificates, SBOMs and post-quantum migration.

Open source risk · SBOM · Licence compliance

FOSSA

Modern firmware is mostly other people's code. FOSSA performs software composition analysis across the whole dependency tree, producing accurate SBOMs in SPDX and CycloneDX formats, flagging licence obligations before they become legal exposure, and tracking known vulnerabilities in the open source you actually ship. For the EU Cyber Resilience Act this is the evidence layer: an SBOM you can hand to a regulator, and a vulnerability handling process that is documented rather than improvised.

FIPS 140-3 validation

SafeLogic

FIPS validation is a schedule risk before it is a technical one. CryptoComply is a drop-in, FIPS 140-3 validated cryptographic module family covering OpenSSL, BoringSSL, Java and mobile targets, so an application inherits validation rather than pursuing its own multi-year submission. RapidCert delivers a certificate issued in the customer's own name in a fraction of the usual queue time — often the difference between meeting a government tender deadline and missing it.

Post-quantum security

Quantropi

Harvest-now-decrypt-later is the practical threat: traffic captured today can be opened once a cryptographically relevant quantum computer exists, which matters for anything with a twenty-year service life. Quantropi's QiSpace platform covers all three pillars — MASQ for post-quantum encryption, QEEP for quantum-secure key distribution without dedicated QKD fibre, and SEQUR for quantum entropy as a service. It layers over existing TLS and IPsec rather than replacing the network.

Embedded TLS · Cryptography

wolfSSL

wolfSSL is a TLS 1.3 and DTLS 1.3 stack written in C with a footprint starting around 20 KB — built for the microcontrollers where OpenSSL simply will not fit. It offers hardware crypto acceleration for common MCU and SoC families, an OpenSSL compatibility layer that shortens porting work, and FIPS 140-3 validated builds. wolfBoot provides secure boot and signed firmware updates; post-quantum algorithms are already available in the stack.

Toolchains & verification

Compilers, debuggers and test tools that are themselves qualified, so the tool is not a hole in the safety case.

Compilers · Debug · Static analysis

TASKING

TASKING compilers are reference toolchains for Infineon AURIX and TriCore, Arm Cortex and Renesas RH850 silicon — TÜV-certified for ISO 26262 up to ASIL D and IEC 61508 SIL 3, with qualification kits supplied so the tool itself is not a gap in the safety case. winIDEA provides multi-core run-control, trace and timing profiling on target. Integrated static analysis enforces MISRA C/C++ and CERT rules during the build, surfacing violations at compile time rather than in review.

Verification · WCET · Coverage

Rapita Systems

The Rapita Verification Suite produces certification evidence rather than opinions. RapiCover instruments statement, decision and MC/DC coverage with low overhead; RapiTime measures on-target worst-case execution time from real traces instead of static estimates; RapiTask exposes scheduling and task interaction on multi-core. Qualification kits and DO-330 tool qualification data ship with the suite, including multi-core interference analysis addressing CAST-32A and AMC 20-193.

Hardware, networking & autonomy

Routers, switches and flight control units for the physical edge of the system.

Industrial routers · Gateways · RMS

Teltonika Networks

Industrial-grade 4G and 5G routers, gateways and modems with dual-SIM failover, wide-temperature operation, DIN-rail and vehicle mounting, and industrial I/O. RutOS supports OpenVPN, WireGuard, IPsec, Modbus and MQTT out of the box. The Remote Management System handles zero-touch provisioning, staged firmware rollout and monitoring across fleets of thousands, with an API for integration into existing NOC and SCADA tooling.

Open networking · Wi-Fi

Edgecore Networks

Bare-metal switches decouple hardware from network OS: 1G to 800G platforms running SONiC, Cumulus or another chosen NOS, installed through ONIE and aligned with OCP and ONF specifications. The portfolio spans data-centre leaf-spine fabrics, PoE++ access switching, cell-site gateways and Wi-Fi 6, 6E and 7 access points — giving operators and integrators a markedly lower cost per port and freedom to change the software layer later.

Autopilots · Certifiable avionics

Embention

Veronte Autopilot is a redundant flight control unit combining multiple IMUs, GNSS with RTK positioning and an integrated radio link, in a package sized for UAVs, eVTOLs and unmanned ground and surface vehicles. It is developed against DO-178C and DO-254 objectives for operation in controlled airspace. The surrounding ecosystem includes ground control software, hardware-in-the-loop simulation for validating missions before flight, and CAN and MAVLink integration with payloads.
